Quick answer
A "trending" Solana token is one seeing unusually high attention right now, some blend of volume, transaction count, and recent activity, depending on the platform. RektDefender's Trending list shows Jupiter's own real-time trending ranking for Solana tokens. Trending is a discovery signal, not a recommendation: different platforms calculate it differently, and none of them mean safe, good, or likely to pump.

Open Trending →What does "trending" actually mean?
There is no industry-standard definition of "trending" for a crypto token. Every platform that shows a trending list (Jupiter, DexScreener, Birdeye, GeckoTerminal, RektDefender included) blends some combination of trading volume, transaction count, unique wallet activity, and how new a pool is, and most don't publish the exact formula. That's normal, not a red flag: it's a proprietary ranking, the same way a search engine doesn't publish its exact ranking algorithm either.
What trending is not: a claim that a token is good, safe, or likely to keep going up. It's a measure of attention at this moment. Attention can come from genuine new demand, from a handful of wallets trading back and forth, from a listing or a mention somewhere, or from a dozen other causes a trending list can't distinguish between on its own.
How RektDefender's Trending works
RektDefender's Trending list is a direct, real-time read of Jupiter's own trending ranking for Solana tokens. RektDefender doesn't compute a separate trending score on top of it. You can switch the time window (5 minutes, 1 hour, 6 hours, or 24 hours) to see attention over a shorter or longer period; RektDefender defaults to the 1-hour window.
Paid placements (RektDefender calls them Boosts) can appear inserted between organic Trending results, always clearly labelled. They never change where an organic token ranks. A Boosted slot is an addition to the page, not a substitute for the ranking underneath it.
Trending vs. Fresh vs. Movers
RektDefender's homepage shows three different lists, and they're answering three different questions, worth knowing apart before you go looking:
- Trending: Jupiter's own real-time trending ranking, unmodified by RektDefender. Answers: what's getting attention right now?
- Fresh: the newest pools, ordered by when the pool was first created, not the token's mint date. Answers: what just showed up?
- Movers: RektDefender's own composition, not a Jupiter category. A pool of actively-traded tokens sorted by the biggest 24-hour price swings, so a token with almost no real trading can't claim a spot just by having a wild percentage move on tiny volume. Answers: what moved the most, among tokens people are actually trading?
A token can appear on one of these lists, all three, or none. Being absent from Trending doesn't mean a token is bad, and being on it doesn't mean it's good.
How to use Trending
- 1
Open Trending
RektDefender's homepage has a Trending section; /solana is a dedicated top-100 trending page if you want the full list in one place.
- 2
Pick a time window
5 minutes, 1 hour, 6 hours, or 24 hours: a shorter window surfaces sudden spikes, a longer one favours sustained attention.
- 3
Scan the list, not just the top spot
Every column (price, 5m/1h/24h change, market cap, liquidity, volume, age) is sortable; the token in first place isn't automatically the most interesting one for you.
- 4
Click into a token
This takes you to that token's own page (the live chart, the numbers, and the Holders/Trades tabs), where the actual research starts.
What to check after discovering a trending token
Trending got you to the token. It doesn't tell you anything about whether the token is worth a closer look. That's a separate job. See How to Research a Solana Token Before Buying for the full workflow: the chart, the liquidity and volume numbers, the Holders tab, and checking the wallets actually holding it.
Why trending isn't a recommendation
The most common mistake with any trending list, on any platform, is treating rank as a verdict: buying the top result because it's the top result. A few things worth remembering:
- High attention can come from genuine demand or from a small number of wallets trading back and forth. A trending list can't always tell the difference on its own.
- You're seeing a token after it's already attracted attention, not before. Trending is never early by definition.
- A different time window can show a completely different list. "Trending" over 5 minutes and "trending" over 24 hours are different claims about the same token.
Use Trending to find candidates worth researching, not tokens worth buying on sight.
FAQ
What does it mean when a Solana token is trending?
It means the token is seeing unusually high attention right now, by whatever mix of volume, transaction count, and recent activity the platform showing it uses. It's a measure of current attention, not a judgement of quality, safety, or future price.
Is a trending token safe to buy?
No. Trending and safe are unrelated questions. A token can trend because real buyers are piling in, or because a handful of wallets are trading it back and forth. Trending tells you where attention is, not whether the token is worth your money.
How does RektDefender decide what's trending?
RektDefender's Trending list shows Jupiter's own real-time trending ranking for Solana tokens. It isn't a RektDefender-invented score. Jupiter doesn't publish the exact formula, which is normal: most trending lists, including well-known ones, don't disclose their exact method either.
What's the difference between Trending, Fresh, and Movers on RektDefender?
Trending is Jupiter's own real-time trending ranking. Fresh is the newest pools by first-pool-creation time, not token age. Movers is RektDefender's own honest composition: actively-traded tokens sorted by the biggest 24-hour price swings, so a two-holder token with almost no volume can't fake its way in.
Why do different sites show different trending tokens?
Because "trending" isn't a standardised metric. Every platform, RektDefender included, blends some mix of volume, transaction count, wallet count, and newness differently, and most don't publish the exact formula. Two trending lists disagreeing doesn't mean one of them is wrong.
How do I find new Solana tokens, not just trending ones?
That's a different list. RektDefender's Fresh section shows new pools ordered by first-pool-creation time. A token can be brand new and not yet trending, or trending without being new at all. They answer different questions.
What should I check after finding a trending token?
Open the token page and look past the trending badge: the live chart, the liquidity and volume figures, and the Holders tab. Trending only tells you attention exists right now. Everything else about whether it's worth a closer look lives on the token's own page.
Ready to see what's trending?
